I think the ancestors are reinforcing their message from yesterday; reminding me that finding ways to sharpen my creative saw will come from my heart and spirit, not my mind. My default mode tends to be overanalyzing and trying to be logical about things but in this situation that would probably prove more obstacle than beneficial. If I try to be rational and logical I risk missing what will make me happy and fall into what makes sense.
The mask on the woman in the 7 of Swords reinforces the idea that I hide behind my intellect. I logic myself into and out of situations and that won’t serve me well here. She even holds the swords against her body as though her intellect can be armor against potential dangers. Instead of trying to cover myself in armor, I need to find my quest, follow my heart (or my bliss, to invoke an overused cliche). I need to open myself up to new possibilities and risk being vulnerable. This is further reinforced by the positions of the cards. The woman in the 7 of Swords is looking away from the other two cards while the Knight of Wands faces the woman on the 10 of Cups and offers her a rose. It’s interesting that the woman on the 7 of Swords wears a dress and shoes that remind me of a dancehall costume and the Knight seems to be using the armor as a shield to hide his more traditional suit. The woman on the 10 of Cups is draped in a diaphanous scarf that barely covers anything. She is exposed, vulnerable and open as well as confident and content. She looks down at the cups with fondness as though the memory of the joy they brought her was worth any sacrifice. She is exposed and vulnerable but doesn’t seem weak or frightened.
Of course, I mistrust being vulnerable and unprotected. In the past, it has proven to be dangerous and detrimental to my well-being. However, I am no longer that person. I think I can face the world without my protective coating and manage to survive, and even thrive upon, whatever is aimed my way.
Today’s tea & chat with the ancestors produced a rather encouraging response. I really needed an upbeat and supportive message today.
So, my message from my ancestors: “The world is your oyster if you’re willing to take the chance. It’s time to let go of what has held you back in the past; stop focusing on a poverty mindset. It’s not about what you have or don’t have, it’s about what you do with what you’ve got. Stop hiding who you are, cowering behind the curtain and peeking out as life passes you by Just jump into the thick of it and get moving!”
“Find an outlet for your energy and creativity before you become bitchy, embittered and unpleasant. Reclaim your crown, your passion and your self. Revisit creative outlets that brought you joy in the past but don’t get lost in “the good old days”. They probably weren’t as golden as your memory paints them.”
I’m honoring my true self by conserving my resources; not giving go much of myself away. At the same time I’m learning to value myself and what I bring to the table. Instead of treating my gifts and knowledge as worthless, I’m beginning to appreciate how worthwhile they truly are.
I’m learning to see within myself more clearly and in a more balanced way. I still have biases and preconceived notions that skew my view but I’m more aware of them. It’s still a struggle but I’m more willing to fight the good fight so that I can honor and value my true self.
How are you thinking about your future? How are you preparing for your future?
The Fool reminds me that my future is unknown and filled with potential; endless possibilities. It’s a chance to explore unfamiliar territory, chart a new course for myself. Nothing has yet been written so believing in myself and having faith that things will work out offers the promise of fulfillment and joy.
I’m preparing for this potential future by remembering that even if I don’t like the choices before me, I do have a choice. We create our future based upon today’s choices and actions. Even if we take no action or decide not to vote or engage with others, we have made a choice. This gives us more control over our lives and forces us to take responsibility for our decisions or lack thereof. That means we do have the power in our lives. The 4 of Cups reinforces this message.
What parts of your past must you explore and resolve in order to move forward?
This was a tough reading for me. I sometimes find when the reading is about me, interpreting it can be tricky. I see what I want to see or delude myself. I plan to try avoiding it here but I’m not sure how successful I’ll be.
This reading feels connected to my career (well former career). I invested many hours into my former profession and still struggle to accept I’ll likely never work at a career again. Oh I may find work, get a job, but I’ll never again climb a career ladder. There are several reasons for this. One is that I wouldn’t return to my former profession even if it were possible. The field has changed dramatically since I left. Government regulations and funding requirements have made it more about metrics and measurable outcomes than quality programming and services.
I will also never invest so much of myself in another job. I dedicated my heart, soul and body to that job. I put in untold extra hours ensuring things ran smoothly and the facility was safe. I exhausted myself. I had friends and family volunteer for various activities and events. And, for several years I was able to work my dream job. I accomplished what I wanted in that field and now I need to release it and move forward.
Now I need to focus on the plethora of opportunities out there for me in new arenas. It won’t be a career path, instead it may be pursuing joy. This is my chance to explore all the things that make me happy, big and small, without pressure or expectations. For years I felt I didn’t live up to my potential. Now I can redefine where my potential truly lies. I can do things just for the sheer pleasure. That is exciting!
She celebrates! The melancholy, sadness and loss are behind her now. She is finally able to express her joy, to embrace her bliss. Her mind is filled with new ideas new energy, new inspiration. They run rampant across her imagination.
The potential awaits activation. The endless possibilities excite and tickle her spirit but she was unable to see it until she released her grief.
