What is becoming unsustainable or unbearable in your life? What is your next step?
Wow! Clearly, something in my life needs shaking up. I think The Hanged Man is pointing out that I’ve done enough hanging around, stuck in stasis. It’s time to see things from a different perspective; turn things on their heads.
The next step is accepting that it’s okay to be dissatisfied with how things are; to want to find the emotional fulfillment and healing I need. Acknowledging that sense of ennui and emotional stagnation is an important start.
You tend to make yourself unhappy because instead of enjoying the good things in your life right now you bemoan what you don’t have. Rather than appreciating where you are, you bitch about how far you have to go.
You lose yourself in dissatisfaction and ennui because you don’t learn from the past. When things are not perfect you mourn rather than determining how they can be improved.
Revisiting past achievements and life experiences can help us realize how far we’ve come and how much we’ve learned. Getting lost in them only makes us unhappy and disgruntled.
What happened? Where did it all go wrong? He had been confident that by now he’d be reaping the benefits of his plans and policies; being recognized for his successful, prosperous rule. Instead, things were in chaos.
Instead of growth and prosperity, there was resentment and upheaval. He was accused of not caring, being an arrogant tyrant; a bully. How could they not recognize his strengths? Why didn’t they appreciate his genius?
She sat alone in the dark trying to connect with her dreams, saddened to realize they were lost. Instead of soaring high supported by exciting ideas and intriguing thoughts, her head was filled with to do lists, meetings and schedules. She was in a position of authority but felt stultified, stagnant. Her spark, her inspiration, her passion for what she did had been doused beneath the mantle of obligation and responsibility.
Lost! I feel lost. I can’t find my path; can’t figure out which direction to move. My monkey mind is chattering so loudly I can’t hear anything else; can’t focus on anything else! My energy is gone, my creativity is for shit. What the Hell happened to me?!!
I was once the star, the energetic, opinionated one. I inspired a bit of admiration and envy in others. Now I can’t be bothered to change out of my pajamas most days. I’ve tried nothing and i’!m all out of ideas. Shit! I hate feeling this way!
Whew! Glad I got that out. I can feel the fires still burning. They’re banked right now but ready to flare to life if given the opportunity. Maybe once I can harness my mind, shut that damned monkey mind up, I’ll be able to plot a new course.
Nothing will change if you placidly sit by and just wait for it to happen. Just because we are dissatisfied with a situation does not guarantee improvements.
Once the changes occur we need to monitor things and ensure they continue to improve and don’t slip back to the way they were before. Vigilance is essential to ensure changes stick.
Holding yourself aloof from current situations so you can deflect blame is pointless. If we disagree with how things are going then work to change them but don’t cop out by claiming “I didn’t vote for/want this”. As the saying goes if we’re not part of the solution then we’re part of the problem. Of course the irony is that one person’s solution IS another’s problem. One person’s destructive Tower moment is another’s revolution. C’est le vie.
Do not give in to despair or let desolation become a permanent mindset. Instead, trust your intuition; listen to your instincts. Reality is that eventually things will change, hopefully for the better but if you give in to defeatism you won’t be able to recognize the changes.
Shielding yourself from reality only works for so long; you will eventually need to face the truth. Explore spiritual ideas and practices to help you handle matters in a soul-centered, holistic, positive way.
Yemaya holds the key to the answers you need but you cannot see her if you don’t open you eyes, heart, mind & soul. Try communicating with your spiritual guides, listen to their answers and use them to think about your path moving forward.
