#TarotDaily – 7 of Pentacles + 6 of Wands (#TrickorTreat)

How might self-discipline give you more freedom? What would be a way for you develop that discipline?

Self-discipline would enable me to make more informed, practical decisions based in what I’ve achieved so far and what I plan to achieve in the coming years. I have a rather “shoot from the hip” approach to most matters. As a rule, this has worked just fine for me so I feel little incentive to change. This card suggests that planning things in advance and periodically taking stock might help me use my time and energy more effectively as well as recognizing how far I’ve come.

One technique that might help me in being more open to this approach is celebrating my victories when they occur. As much as I don’t take stock, I’m also not good at appreciating or valuing what I’m good at doing. I tend to take a dismissive approach to my own achievements. I’m not sure whether this is because I felt that highlighting my achievements would alienate me from other people or because I have self-esteem issues. What’s most likely is it is a combination of both. Having said that, maybe it’s time to embrace, honor, and celebrate my achievements. This certainly wood go a long way towards keeping me on track and being self-disciplined.

Is there an area in your life in which you are hesitant to stand out? Why?

If course there is! Don’t we all have an area in which we’re hesitant to stand out? No? Okay, maybe it’s just me.

Looking at these cards gave me a chuckle. The first thought that streaked across my mind is that I’m reluctant to share my happy marriage with other people (which wasn’t what I expected). It’s not that I’m afraid people will get jealous, although that certainly part of it, it’s that I’m very protective and defensive of certain elements of my private life. Hence the appearance of the 7 of Wands.

Quite frankly, I am very lucky in the man that I married. He encourages my weirdness, celebrates my intelligence and has no problem poking fun at me when my ego gets too big for itself. He is also fiercely proud of the fact that I don’t take crap from anybody. I honestly think I may have found the perfect husband for me.

At the same time, he does not ever want to be shared online in any way, shape, or form. he has been known to threaten friends and relatives with death if they post photos of him on Facebook. It’s also one of the reasons I rarely mention him by name in any of my posts.

Well, now I’ve done what I have always been hesitant to do. I guess it wasn’t as hard as I feared.

#TarotDaily – 7 of Pentacles Rx + 8 of Cups (Radiant WS)

TarotHunter’s Salt Rounds:

  • In the past you’ve focused so much on your achievements that you didn’t consider whether you were happy about them. Now it seems as though all those accomplishments leave you unsatisfied and emotionally unfulfilled. It might be time to leave them behind and seek out what will satisfy your heart and soul.
  • You’ve been resting on your laurels; letting yourself coast on past glories. This isn’t necessarily bad, but it is not very challenging or satisfying. Maybe it’s time to reprioritize and seek out new challenges that will make your heart & spirit sing.
  • You’re not putting any effort into things anymore. You continue to do the work but your heart isn’t in it. Your enthusiasm has left the building. Maybe it’s time to revisit the things that you love in life and reprioritize. Find ways to become more enthusiastic and experience joy in what you do and what you accomplish.

#TarotDaily – Strength Rx + 9 of Staves Rx (#SacredBridges)

TarotHunter’s Salt Rounds:

  • You don’t believe you’re strong enough to endure, to complete this task, and you’re right. If you don’t believe you’re strong enough then you won’t be. However, if you have faith in yourself, success is much more likely.
  • Are you feeling tired and worn down? Have the last few months reduced you to a nub? Perhaps you need to give yourself a break and recharge those batteries! You can only run on empty for so long before permanent damage occurs.
  • Your inner strength and determination have served you well. You’ve made it this far and the finish line is visible. Dig into your reserves and keep moving forward. Remember that you’re doing this for yourself, not to impress anyone else.

#TarotDaily – The Fool + Chief of Stakes Rx (#SacredBridges)

TarotHunter’s Salt Rounds:

  1. You are hoping for a new beginning, a new opportunity to change things but you don’t yet have the mastery, knowledge and experience to bring this to fruition. Patience is the key.
  2. Believing in yourself; having faith in your abilities is a wondrous and important component of success but more is usually required for long term success. Learning to harness and focus your creative energies, your divine fire, is necessary too. That’s something only time and experience can offer. So have faith in yourself but do the work needed to acquire the knowledge and experience.
  3. Sometimes mastery and experience can blind us to new paths, ideas and challenges. Every so often we need to jump in with both eyes open and take a risk; to take a deep breath and shout “What the f**k!”.

#TarotDaily – Ace of Wheels + 9 of Wheels (#Sacred Bridges)

TarotHunter’s Silver Bullets:

  • The seed has been planted; nourish it, tend it well so it grows but be careful not to let it consume your life. Don’t let who you are and want to be get lost in caring for others or an overabundance of “stuff”. You are not your things and you are so much more than a list of accomplishments.
  • Capture your dreams, those desires you want to manifest in your life, and write them down, record them in some way so the Universe is put on notice. Then work towards it; determine that you will achieve these goals and stay focused until you achieve them.
  • Right now things are in a nascent stage, vulnerable but hopeful. If you work hard enough and believe in your goals they can manifest into something glorious!

#TarotDaily – Chief of Stakes Rx + The Fallen Tree Rx (Sacred Bridges)

TarotHunter’s Salt Rounds:

  • You’re trying to hold on too tightly; refusing to give up any control over things in your life. This may lead to a rude awakening because you’re deliberately ignoring the negative consequences of this decision.
  • You feel as though your life is a shambles and will never be rebuilt. You don’t see yourself as having any control over your life and find it difficult to explain yourself to others. Seeking outside support might help improve this situation.
  • You have managed to fight and claw your way to the top and have discovered it isn’t what you hoped it would be. It is proving unfulfilling and stultifying. You thought achieving these goals would dramatically reshape your life. It has but not in the ways you’d hoped.

#TarotDaily – 3 of Pentacles + 9 of Cups Rx (Guardian)

TarotHunter’s Salt Rounds:

  • You see those who have preceded you in life and don’t believe you will succeed; that your wishes will remain unfulfilled. Try to remind yourself that your mindset is as important a piece of this puzzle as your hard work. Changing it can improve your chances of success.
  • You feel like a ghost, as though your efforts are not recognized and rewarded. The only one who can change this is you. If your wish is for success and recognition then look for ways to showcase your skills, knowledge and work ethic. Don’t just do what’s expected, go above and beyond.
  • Are you the one not recognizing the contributions and achievements of others? Perhaps you are letting your own frustrations influence how you work with and acknowledge co-workers and even supervisors. Remember that none of us exist in a vacuum. Seeing how others have contributed to your success is as important as being recognized for your own.

#TarotDaily – 7 of Coins Rx + The Lovers Rx +Deirdre)

Tarot Hunter’s Salt Rounds:

  • Have you taken time to look around at what you’ve accomplished and make your decisions and choices based on this history? Or are you simply flying by the seat if your pants?
  • It’s time to stop ignoring where you are in your life right now and hoping to postpone big decisions. Take your head out if your ass!
  • Are you avoiding making a big decision because you don’t feel you deserve the opportunity? Perhaps you don’t believe you’ve put in the time & effort? This might even be true, but what are you going to do about it? It’s time to decide – either be honest with yourself and decline the offer or take the chance (maybe those that offered it to you see something in you that you don’t ) and change your patterns. Either way, it’s your call.

A reversed journey through the Major Arcana part 2

The Hermit – After having our world turned upside down we might find ourselves in need of a retreat; to regroup. Instead of considering what we need to do to conquer the world, we ponder what will allow us to fulfill ourselves. We are still searching the darkness and trying to forge our own path through the darkness but now it’s the darkness within ourselves. We’re working towards finding truths in our soul that will allow us to lead a more fulfilling life moving ahead.

Strength reminds us that enacting these types of changes in our lives requires fortitude and inner strength; the need to stick with it especially when the going gets rough. This card reminds me of people who, after some dramatic shift in their career or life, manage to pick themselves back up and move forward again. It symbolizes those who find the inner fortitude to add a second act to their lives. The divorced woman who finds her passion in life again. The middle-aged man who discovers that he still has a lot to offer. Instead of letting themselves become defeated and miserable, they pull themselves up and find new meaning in their lives. They fight to find fulfillment and satisfaction.

The Chariot is our mode of transportation to get to that new place of fulfillment and satisfaction. Once we’ve made the decision and set the intention to find new meaning in our lives in Strength, we need to find the way to make it happen. We need to pick up the reins, grab the steering wheel and drive ourselves towards our new destination. We need to determine what route will serve us best and what speed we intend to travel. Do we want to take our time and enjoy some rest stops or do we want to get there as fast as we can? Either way, the decision and the choices are all on us. Do we believe this part of our lives has been fated? Is it our destiny to make this journey? Only you can decide that for yourself.

The Lovers reflect all the choices that still remain in our journey through life. I often like to view fate or destiny as a series of points on a map that we must experience – how we get there and how long the journey takes is up to us. I like to think it’s the combination of destined experiences and personal preferences that are reflected by the two different horses in this card. How & where we choose to steer them is on us.

The Hierophant shows us as we step into our role as mentors, lore keepers, historians. We have now reached a point in our lives when we can teach and guide others. We can show them the options available to them; share our stories. We can help open their eyes to the traditions and history that preceded them and allow them to determine who they might wish to incorporate this knowledge and wisdom into their own lives.

The Emperor is our journey to self-sovereignty. We no longer need to build an external empire, instead, we need to feel as though we are finally in charge of our own lives. We are the masters of our fate; the lords of all we survey. We no longer see success as an external measure but rather an internal one of personal satisfaction and fulfillment. It’s not about money and possessions, it’s about feelings of accomplishment and pride.

The Empress is when we finally learn how to nurture and embrace our true selves. We finally allow ourselves to explore our internal creative energy. Instead of feeling the need to focus on external objects or people, we aim it at ourselves. We tend and care for our own secret gardens and learn to feed our inner needs and desires. It doesn’t make us selfish but rather self-centered in the best possible way. Tending to ourselves allows us to replenish our resources and be there for others when the need arises.

The High Priestess guards the veil behind her. It is not something she parts lightly because one what awaits behind it is revealed, it can never be unknown again. When she pulls it aside we realize that what it hides is our true selves. We are finally ready to learn, accept and embrace who we truly are and were meant to be. We realize that we need to do things for ourselves; to nurture our souls not because they meet someone else’s need. In my experience, when the veil parted I was faced with my feral thirteen year old self – the part of me I’d tried (and failed) to civilize over the years. I was able to reconnect with that energy and unleash her into my life today. It was quite an amazing experience.

The Magician allows us to realize that (much like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz), the power to make things happen in our lives was in our hands the entire time. We are not dependent upon others to grant us power; we merely need to accept and grasp it. We often hear people talk about helping to empower others but the truth is we cannot do that. We can only help them understand that the power lies within them and only they can use it. That is what The Magician shows us at this point in our journey. Perhaps it’s near the end of the road but the message is no less valuable.

The Fool is our final stop. This is when we embrace all our foolish qualities and trust in the world again as we prepare to take that leap and move beyond this life into something new and unexpected. We are still leaping into the unknown but now all our knowledge and wisdom has combined to make us realize that we truly know nothing and the journey is always about the experiences and the learning. We have to believe that what awaits beyond is something new and exciting. Perhaps this is why so many of us believe in an afterlife – we want to believe we are leaping into something,  not just nothingness.
